Student Groups
Three registered student organizations are very busy in service and program development related to the UTPCR: The Society of Professional Mediators, the Willie Nelson Center Students for Peace and Conflict Resolution, and the Global Ethics and Conflict Resolution Coordinators. The students include undergraduate and graduate students from across the campus and across the world.
Summer Symposium
The Summer Symposium provides an opportunity for high school students to explore leading contemporary ideas in conflict resolution and discover avenues for more effective cooperation. Participants in the one- or (optional) two-week symposium receive instruction from distinguished scholars and interact with artists, filmmakers, musicians and politicians with real-world views on subjects ranging from relationship difficulties to international tensions.
Through group interaction, participants will learn valuable skills in relationship-building and problem-solving. Topics included in the 2007 Symposium include: Negotiation Theory; Music and Art of Peace; A Devote and Dynamic Family; Safety And School; Race, Ethnicity and Community; Civil Rights, Human Rights and Individual Responsibility; Current Events; Public Policy; and National Identity.
The Summer Symposium is an educational outreach program of The University of Texas.
